THE GREAT COMMISSION

Jesus told his disciples to go fourth and spread the gospel, and to teach those whom they share the gospel with to be disciples of Jesus Christ. To be a disciple is to be one who learns from another. As disciples of Christ, we find our ultimate authority in the Word of God.

It is our goal to spread the gospel with every nation, race, color, and tongue, and to make disciples of Jesus Christ. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Matthew 28: 19 & 20

These are some practical steps in fulfilling the great commission

Praying

For example, praying for opportunities for the gospel to be preached (Colossians 4:3); protection for those who work for the Lord in witnessing (Romans 15:30–31); boldness and power in speaking God’s Word (Acts 4:29–31); more workers to be sent into the harvest field (Matthew 9:38).

Giving

We can give of our finances (2 Corinthians 8:1–4), but more importantly, we can offer up ourselves and our loved ones for God to use as He wills.

Going

Jesus didn’t commission us to stay and wait for the world to come to us, but to go into all the world to reach the unreached with the message of God’s love in Christ.
